UPMC Prof. Position PR1760 : helping foreigners in the candidature process

The candidature process comprises 3 phases :

  1. completing the online candidature process with the Galaxie server
  2. gathering information in a PDF file and sending it by email to the committee
  3. upon pre-selection in the short list by the committee, coming to UPMC to meet the selection committee for an oral presentation with questions

1 and 2 must be completed before Oct 16, 16h00

3 is scheduled on Nov. 7, 2011 at UPMC in Paris

Phase 1 : completing the online candidature

  • Click on "Accès Galaxie/recrutement"

  • If you haven't done yet, create your account (will give you a candidate number and a password)

  • Fill in the identity form. Caution : use upper-case letters for the password (5-8 chars, letters and/or digits)
  • For the "Situation Professionnelle" choose "Enseignement à l'étranger (autre que post-doctorant)" as indicated

  • Leave the next entries empty and validate (bottom left button)

  • If everything goes well, the next screen should look like below. Keep track of your Candidate Number. Along with your password it will let you connect back to your account.

  • Your account is created. You can choose to come back later to the login window (see top of page) or to continue the candidature process right away. In this case, use the items in the left vertical frame. At this stage, only these two items (Profil, Postes ) are to be used. Profil lets you edit your Identity info or change your passwd. Postes lets you create a new candidature.
  • Click on Candidatures in the left vertical frame. In the next window click on "Créer une nouvelle Candidature à un poste"

  • In the next window fill as indicated below then click on "Rechercher les postes" button in the bottom left.

  • Select the position N° 1760 at Paris 6 (P. et M. Curie). Caution, other positions might appear in the list, select only this one. Validate by clicking on button "Créer une nouvelle candidature pour le poste". Be aware that if you click on any other links on this page (such as the small book icon or the number 1760, which get you into info pages) you might have a hard time getting back to this page. In any case never use the left/right navigation arrows, always use the buttons provided inside the pages.

  • Validate as follow

  • Fill in the details and validate

  • now your candidature is recorded. You'll be able to log in and modify the data (by clicking on "Candidatures" in the left vertical frame), until the candidature deadline (Oct 16).
  • When you're ready, print the declaration of candidature, by clicking on "Candidatures", then on "detail", then button "Imprimer Candidature" and proceed to the next phase : compiling a PDF file and sending it by mail to the university.

Before Oct 16 16h00,

Prepare a single PDf file, with a size < 4 MO, named with the following convention :

1760-27-PR-YourFamilyName YourFirstName e.g. 1760-27-PR-SMITH ROBERT

In this file insert in the following order :

  • your declaration of candidature printed from Galaxie, dated and signed (see in end of previous section how to get this declaration)
  • an Identity document with a picture of you
  • a CV
  • copy of your diploma (PhD)
  • a more detailed description of your research works and publications ("titres et travaux")

As the scientific committee of the faculty will have to evaluate the correspondence between your current position and the aimed position, it is strongly advised to insert at this point a letter from an academic authority that certifies your current career level and occupations.

After these elements, which are mandatory in that order, feel free to add whatever information you might want to put forward (research statement, teaching statement, selection of publications, letters of recommendation, …)
