This page lists external tools that can be used to further usage enhancement of Antescofo scoring.

NoteAbility Pro

NoteAbility Pro is a graphical score editing tools developed by Keith Hammel. Since early 2008, NoteAbility Pro has an export function specific to Antescofo and can communicate live with Max or Pd versions of Antescofo to synchronize the score location on NoteAbility's score window. Since 2009, it has also integrated the action language in Antescofo. See notes in the distribution of both Antescofo and NoteAbility. Besides graphical score editing, NoteAbility can import/export many common score formats such as MIDI, MusicXML, Guido etc.

NAPro is the preferred score editor for Antescofo specially for polyphonic scores. You can import your musicXML scores into NAPro and save them to Antescofo format. Finale already has an XML export. Sibelius users should obtain an additional plugin in order to export their scores to XML format.

NAPro/Antescofo features are currently being enhanced.

NEW! Ircam Forum members can obtain NAPro at a special price. Contact the Ircam Forum coordinator.

MIDI Convertor

Serge Lemouton has written a Java application for converting MIDI scores to Antescofo format. It is partly based on original by Robert Macrae. Available options are:

  • Quarter tone compatibility for Finale exported MIDI files
  • Channel Specification: Specify the channel to follow (or follow all channels in Antescofo score). By default, only midi channel 1 is used and the other channel are written as GFWD.
  • Remarks/suggestions? Contact Author

NOTE: MIDI does not represent neither TRILLs nor glissandi and might sometime destroy timings! Be aware of that when preparing your scores… .

Language Modules

  • BBEdit/TextWrangler language module for Antescofo highlighting and coloring syntaxes while editing.
    • Download and unzip in ~/Library/Application Support/[BBEDIT or TextWrangler]/Language Modules/.
